Frequently asked questions
What is VC Catalog?
VC Catalog (vccatalog.com) is a free, publicly accessible catalog of venture capital firms, the companies they back, the people who work at those firms and the relationships between them. It offers search and comparison of VC firms, relationship paths for warm introductions, market reports and research articles. It is operated by Team Social LTD, a company registered in Israel.
Is VC Catalog free to use?
Yes. Profiles, search, the dataset pages, the market reports and the research articles are free to read without an account. Some features need a free account (sign-in with Google or an e-mail code): full relationship lists, relationship paths, comparisons, saved searches, share links and suggesting corrections.
Where does the data come from?
From public sources only: the websites of venture capital firms and startups, public regulatory filings such as SEC Form D and Form ADV filings, public professional profiles and news publications. Some links between records are matched automatically, sometimes with the help of an AI model, and can be wrong. Users do not create profiles.
How current is the data?
The catalog is updated continuously: funding rounds and other facts from news and public filings are added after they are checked, and larger corrections arrive in batches. A figure can still lag the latest filing or announcement. Every research article states the date its data runs to ("Data as of"), and every report and chart states its coverage.
How are VC firms ordered in search?
Firms whose name matches the search text come first. Within the same match, firms are ordered by a score built from the size of their recorded portfolio, the recent funding activity of their portfolio companies, their assets under management or latest fund, and whether a team is listed. The score itself is not shown.
Can I use VC Catalog data in my own work?
You may use the information for your own personal or internal business research, and you may quote and link to the research articles with attribution to vccatalog.com. Each article publishes the data table behind every chart. Copying the catalog with automated tools, beyond what robots.txt allows, or republishing it as a competing dataset is not permitted.
I am listed in VC Catalog. How do I correct or remove my profile?
Signed-in users can suggest a correction on any profile. A listed person can remove their own profile with the "Is this you? Remove my profile" link on the profile page, or from the "Do Not Share My Info" page, by confirming through e-mail or by asking for a manual check.
Is VC Catalog investment advice?
No. VC Catalog is provided for information and professional research. It is not investment, legal or financial advice, not an offer or recommendation of any security or fund, and a relationship path is a research lead, not a guaranteed introduction.
Who writes the research articles?
The research articles are written by Eyal Moskovitz from the VC Catalog database. Each article states its sources, its method and the limits of its data, and every number in it traces to the data behind its charts.
How do I contact VC Catalog?
