As co-founder emeritus, Alan has been a pillar in the Utah investment community. Upon co-founding Mercato Partners, Alan had already made over sixty personal investments in early stage Utah technology companies, and had founded Grow Utah Ventures, a nonprofit organization that fosters entrepreneurial development. In addition to his impressive career in private equity, Alan has also been recognized for his business success, particularly as founder and former CEO and chairman of MarketStar, the Utah-based leader in outsourced sales acceleration services. He has been honored as both the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year and the Mountain West Capital Network Entrepreneur of the Year.
