About
I'm a former engineer, founder, and operator turned early–stage investor based in San Francisco. My last venture, BackType, was a data infrastructure & analytics company, backed by Y Combinator, True Ventures, Lowercase Capital, and more. In2011, BackType was acquired by Twitter, where I helped launch Ads and ran the Ad Center as Twitter grew from 300 to 3,000+ employees and went public. I've also served as an Advisor to Entrepreneur First, Menlo Ventures and Y Combinator's Startup School. At my last startup, we were obsessed with building a top 0.01% talent team and engineering–centric culture. What other companies did with entire teams, BackType did with single engineers. The distributed data processing work we did to build the BackType product became the basis for the Lambda Architecture and we also open sourced, Apache Storm, a distributed realtime computation system developed at BackType.
