About
Ed has spent more than four decades proving a single thesis: the founders mainstream capital overlooks deliver superior returns. His venture career began at 25 and accelerated at 27, when he became CEO of one of the nation’s larger venture firms — mentored by the CEO of Morgan Stanley and the chairman of J.P. Morgan’s executive committee. Leading one of the earliest impact VC funds as president of UNC Partners, he returned a 32% IRR over the fund’s final decade and helped launch some of the most successful Black-led companies in the country. He has served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and co-founded The Business Collaborative with the CEO of State Street. In 2020 he founded Reinventure to run that same contrarian playbook again.
