Mr. Tang Hesong (汤和松) was Vice President of Baidu, fully responsible for Baidu's strategic investments and acquisitions, and ran a series of strategic investment and M&A projects with great influence in China's internet industry, including the acquisition of 91 Wireless ($1.9B), the investment in Qunar ($306mm), the investment in iQiyi, the acquisition of PPS ($370mm), and the acquisition of the Nuomi website. In terms of the total value of investments and acquisitions and the number of projects, he was at the time second to none in the industry. Before joining Baidu, Mr. Tang was Director of Strategic Investment for Greater China at Microsoft. He has also worked at Cisco Systems and Applied Materials in the US. Mr. Tang has repeatedly lectured MBA students at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, and continues to serve as a mentor for master's students in finance at the PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University. Mr. Tang holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from Tsinghua University, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.
