John Wu is the Founding Partner and Chairman of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He manages the FengHe Opportunities Fund and leads our Venture Capital business and held important roles in the successes of our key VC portfolio companies. John is a highly accomplished technologist, entrepreneur and investor with more than three decades of experience at the forefront of technology markets. John began his career in Silicon Valley in 1989 most notably leading Yahoo! Inc.’s search and e-commerce technology engineering team from 1996 to 1999 and was awarded a patent for his work in “semi-structured search”. He went on to become angel investor and inaugural CTO of Alibaba Group from 2000 to 2008 and was instrumental in building the foundations in Alibaba Group which has become one of the largest global technology companies today.
