Samuel (Sam) J. Palmisano served as Chairman, President, and CEO of IBM from 2003 to 2011, remaining Chairman of the Board until September 2012, and Senior Adviser until his retirement in December 2012. Under his leadership, IBM delivered record financial results, transformed into a globally integrated enterprise, and launched its Smarter Planet initiative. Following his tenure at IBM, Sam became Chairman of the Center for Global Enterprise (CGE), a nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution focused on global business practices, management science, economic trends, and their societal impacts. He is also a frequent and sought-after co-investor alongside Breyer Capital.
